FAQs

+ When are beginning classes?

Please check the class schedule for the current list of classes. We rotate and classes every 2 to 3 months and update the website to reflect these class changes. You can also check out the workshops page for more details on special workshops and events.

+ When can I start class?

You can start this week in any of the Basic Bellydance classes. All the beginning classes (level 0) are geared for you to drop in and start learning right away.

+ What should I wear to class?

Wear comfortable clothing - something that you can easily move in. Yoga pants and a crop top are acceptable as is a t-shirt and shorts. We suggest to stay away from baggy clothing since they will hide your body positioning making it difficult to see and correct certain movements, but the most important thing is that you should feel comfortable.

+ Do I have to show my belly?

You do not have to wear something that shows your belly if you don't want to. Even though there is a lot of emphasis on the belly and the core muscles, it is a misconception that you have to show your belly when you bellydance.

+ Should I wear shoes?

For bellydancing, you may dance in your bare feet, socks, or dance slippers. Our Zumba teacher recommends wearing supportive and cushioned workout shoes in order to minimize the stress on your joints. It is also courteous to remove your muddy or wet street shoes when entering our studio.

+ Do I have to wear a costume for class?

No, you don't have to wear a costume to class. Hip belts are not necessary, but classes are more fun when you can play dress up - or at least have that hip belt to give you instant feedback on your movements.

+ Where do I buy costuming apparel?

There is a great selection and prices available online for all your costuming needs. We do have sewing workshops designed to make certain costume pieces necessary for performing. Please ask for guidance in finding affordable and long lasting costuming.
